He was one of the early entrants into the commercial Internet industry, advising CEOs of software companies on the potential impact the emerging Internet could have on their product plans and business models. This narrow focus led to opportunities to become a multi-time CEO in the Internet space, and to be personally involved in the development, management, successful launch, and market adoption of the world’s first Web video product, and one of the world’s first large Web applications, named TeamCenter®, that enabled collaboration among members of geographically distributed project teams.
Ten years ago, Robert conceived and oversaw the development and launch of a Web-based soft-skills coaching service, the first of its kind. For the last three years, through his business consulting company, CEO Cubed LLC, he has helped CEOs in a variety of industries benefit from his business experiences through close collaboration with them on how best to move their companies forward.
For many years, Robert has been a student of the most popular selling methodologies and has occasionally had opportunities to train or coach organizations on these, in addition to implementing them in companies that he ran. He honed his public speaking skills in the process of being certified as an Advanced Toastmaster®. His community service contributions include more than ten years of pro bono mentoring of CEOs in early-stage companies on business development strategy and tactics.
Robert’s close working relationships with CEOs over many years has sensitized him to seek out three things when assessing the potential to create successful, sustainable businesses: opportunities for collaboration, proven repeatable processes, and scalable business models. His attraction to, and passion for, Lean Thinking and methodologies is due in large part to the fact that Lean environments exhibit all three of these elements.
Robert received his B.A. degree in psychology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and his M.B.A. from Northeastern University, where he graduated at the top of his class with a concentration in strategy and finance.
A transplanted Californian born in New York, Robert is a competitive singles tennis player, a certified bareboat sailing skipper, and, after 10 years, still learning how to play golf.
